Board Games
1. Mobile Suit Gundam
My
wife and I started this game first among the three board game, and it was not
her style but I enjoyed it as a Gundam fan. It is tactical wargame for two
players, and it was not that difficult to follow the instructions because I was
familiar with the story and the mobile suits. There are several turn sequence,
Command/ Reinforcement/ Action/ Adjustment phase, and the unit which represents
a single mobile suit, ship, aircraft or vehicle, might have four
values(Hit/Mobility/Shoot Attack/Melee Attack) or less. It was also fun to
have command cards for game spice. I beat my wife, by crushing her unit within
an hour. This game shows proper combination of wargame and
gundam characters.
2. Unbound: Endless War
It was hard to catch up the
game, due to the complication of rules. My wife and I read several times to
understand the rules, probably there was a language barrier and it was the
strategic and territorial game which she did not enjoy that much normally. Fortunately,
there was not any circumstance that we both lose, and my wife got lose once
again (she is terrible player in every games, not only for the board games)
because she did not utilize the movement points by the end of the turn. I
wished the hex had more variety of its shape, like triangle or square for
surprising points.
3. Journey of Sheep
It is just intriguing due
to the chips and theme, reminding the combination of casino chips and adorable
theme. The result of the game was close call, and I eventually won. Luckily, I
used the ‘Fire Pasture Law’ by taking the green chips from my wife and I my
wife got stuck because of the appearance of the ‘Great Wolf’ which makes the
‘Hunter’ chips useless. I collected more sheep chips and prizes than my wife to
win. I thought this game would be more fun if there were four people in the
game, which seems more proper.
